Mining context

The gold mines of the Kayes region (Loulo, Gounkoto) operate in areas remote from main roads. The client needed vehicles capable of transporting equipment and personnel on sandy and rocky tracks.

Vehicle mix

  • 4 Renault TRM 10000 6×6: heavy-load trucks (10-tonne payload), ideal for mining equipment transport
  • 2 Land Rover Defender 110 4×4: liaison vehicles for field teams

The TRM 10000 were delivered with tipper body and front winch. The Defenders were fitted with anti-intrusion bars and roof racks.

Mali-specific logistics

As Mali is landlocked, delivery followed the Dakar–Bamako corridor:

1. RORO sea freight Antwerp → Dakar (CFR)

2. Road transit Dakar → Bamako (escorted convoy, 1,200 km)

3. Transit Bamako → mine site Kayes region (400 km of tracks)

Total transit: approximately 22 days (sea) + 4 days (land).

Lys Tout Terrain coordinated everything with our local freight forwarder partners and provided all export documents required by Malian customs.
