20 Mercedes Unimog for public works in Senegal
A Senegalese construction consortium called on Lys Tout Terrain to equip its rural road construction sites with 20 Mercedes Unimog trucks, valued for their versatility in difficult terrain.
The project
As part of a government programme to open up rural areas (Tambacounda and Kédougou regions), a consortium of 3 Senegalese construction companies needed to quickly equip its sites with versatile machines.
Why the Unimog?
The Mercedes Unimog is the benchmark for this type of mission: its 4×4 transmission with lockable differentials, high ground clearance (450 mm) and front/rear power take-offs make it a multi-purpose tool (compactor tractor, tipper, water tanker, auxiliary crane).
Lys Tout Terrain supplied 14 Unimog U1300L (130 hp, tipper body) and 6 Unimog U2450 (245 hp, bare chassis for specific equipment).
Delivery organisation
Order placed in October, delivery required by January (before the dry season favourable for construction). Tight 3-month deadline to select, overhaul and ship 20 units.

Antwerp–Dakar transit: 12 days.
Reception by client in Dakar on time, with all documents (COTECNA certificates, ownership documents, French registration papers).
